C-SPAN and Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBL) today announced a content distribution agreement in which C-SPAN programming will be available in audio format at www.audible.com in early July 2000. Audible.com is the leading provider of Internet-delivered spoken audio for PC-based listening or mobile playback on AudibleReady portable digital audio players. C-SPAN, the political network of record, provides access to public affairs programming via cable, satellite and the Internet. In addition to the content distribution agreement, Audible and C-SPAN will work together to market this initiative.
Among the C-SPAN programs the companies expect to make available are Booknotes, Washington Journal, American Perspectives, America and the Courts, Road to the White House and C-SPAN2's Book TV.
Listeners who are interested in accessing C-SPAN audio at audible.com will be able to log on to the site (www.audible.com), download the free desktop software and select audio titles. Each title can be downloaded to the listener's PC in its entirety or streamed for immediate listening. After a title has been downloaded, it may be transferred to an AudibleReady digital audio player for on-the-go listening.
